In a state house press release, Mr Laolu Akande, the SSA Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, refuted the report on saharareporters.com that claimed the VP’s proposed trip to India was cancelled due to protocol error. He also refuted claims that an advance team of the VP had been sent to India before the “last-minute cancelation”. He also clarified that the delegation to India is led by Dr Okechukwu Onelamah, the Minister of Trade and Industry. His exacts words are below :

“There are insinuations online about Nigeria’s participation in the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Exim Bank of India Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership holding from March 14-15 in New Delhi.
For the avoidance of doubt, Nigeria’s delegation to the the meeting is led by Industry, Trade and Investment Minister, Dr. Okey Enelamah.
It is also untrue that an advance party from the Vice President’s office departed for India. No such thing happened because there was no such final decision to travel.
Finally, Nigerians know that wherever Mr. President is, at home or abroad he acts fully in his office except if on break, indisposed or incapacitated. So the question of his traveling creating a vacuum does not even exist at all.”
