Today, the 19th day of February in 1878, the American inventor, Thomas Edison patented his Phonograph (Not Pornography), a gramophone record which dominated the music industry until the advent of Compact discs (CDs) in the 19s!

on this same day, 19th February in 1945, it was “Iwo Jima” invasion. 30,000 US marines invaded the Japanese  island of Iwo Jima in the final phase of World War II. The Japanese put up a fierce resistance  leading to the death of 21,000 Japanese troop and 7000 Americans!

Also on this day, 19/02 in 2008, the embattled Cuban president Fidel Castro officially resigned and was succeeded by his brother, Raul!
