PRESIDENT BUHARI, DON’T OFFEND THOSE KIDS BY DELE MOMODU

“Education is the ultimate leveller. The best schools in the world are not likely to admit anyone based on your bank statement. The students still have to undergo very intensive and rigorous examination, interview and general screening exercise. I cannot over-emphasise that it is the dream of every reasonable and loving parent to send their children to the best schools all over the world whether they can afford it or not. It ought to be the dream of every responsible government to help its youths attend Ivy League schools and donate them to the academic world. Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Buchi Emecheta, Ben Okri, Chimamanda Adichie and others would probably have remained local champions if their talents had been limited and restricted to Nigeria. I’m not sure they were all born with silver-spoon”

“The onus is therefore on conscionable Nigerians, youths especially, to serve as a focal point for constructive criticism. It is more important for the warriors that championed the Change campaign that brought in PMB,  to be as loud as they can be, with their criticisms. They gave too much, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and even spiritually to the vision!  They have invested too much that it will be foolhardy to decide to rest their oars now!”

Time to re-write the APC Manifesto – By Dele Momodu

Mr President and his Party would have to sit down urgently to reappraise things and come out with a tidier and clearer agenda containing the realistic plan for Nigeria and Nigerians in this dispensation. Sooner rather than later, the first year of this administration will come knocking. It would be disastrous if by May 29, 2016, we still cannot have a glimpse of where the government is headed or heading. The staccato, stop-start fashion by which things are being currently handled must yield way to a smoother policy manifestation and implementation. There are many things that need to be worked on speedily.

    ALHAJI PUTIN’S REPUBLIC

For a couple of years now, I have been the Chairman and sole member of the Alhaji Putin Haters Club (APHC). I am now tired.
When you are unable to beat them, joining them is not such a disgraceful option.

BABA, WETIN DO OUR 5K! BY SAHEED ANIMASHAUN

“There you go again! We deserve utmost respect as citizens! If the President has realized that the 5k unemployment is not feasible, he should do a national address and apologize! Plain simple! He also should apologize for exploiting our hopelessness in PDP! He should let us know other campaign promises he may be unable to fulfill and give ample reasons! Is he still going to carry out the primary school feeding programme? We deserve to know! I have been terribly disappointed with Baba’s PR. He is either making a policy/important statement abroad, or he’s keeping silent on a pressing national issue, or he makes belated comments! He needs to improve his PR! ”

“Okay, you want to talk about exchange rate. I am listening. The way it is, everybody is now an economist in Nigeria. Even my driver yesterday was telling me about the behaviour of the parallel market. And I overheard the nanny commenting on the 2016 budget and how it may, in the long run affect the housekeeping allowance.”
